The chocolate chip cookie was created by Ruth Graves Wakefield and quickly gained immense popularity. Along with her spouse, she ran “The Toll House Inn” and was a skilled chef with a college degree. Made by mistake, the cookie was sold to Nestle for a mere $1 and some chocolate. During World War II, packages of these cookies were much-loved by soldiers serving overseas.
